The Green Bay Packers have taken steps to advance girls' sports by providing $100,000 in grants to 20 high schools across Wisconsin. This funding, part of the organization's Girls Flag Grant Program, is intended to support the introduction of girls' flag football as intramural and club team activities. Each of these schools received $5,000 and a starter kit from USA Football.

Ryan Fencl, the Packers' football outreach manager, commented on this development: "We are excited to see high schools in Wisconsin developing and executing their own girls flag pilot leagues. While many of the participating players are multi-sport athletes, flag football is also opening the door for girls who are still discovering their athletic niche to compete. Since 14 other states already have girls flag as a sanctioned high school sport, it is our goal to have Wisconsin join this list soon. These 20 grant recipient schools, along with others in the state, are helping us make significant strides toward reaching this ultimate goal."

The 20 schools benefitting from the program's initial year include Amherst High School, Appleton East High School, Appleton North High School, Appleton West High School, Catholic Memorial High School, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, Franklin High School, Greenfield High School, Kettle Moraine High School, Milwaukee Reagan High School, Milwaukee School of Languages, Milwaukee Washington High School, Mukwonago High School, Muskego High School, Oneida Nation High School, Port Washington High School, Waukesha West High School, Weyauwega-Fremont High School, and Xavier High School.

Looking ahead, the Packers are set to continue their support by awarding $5,000 grants to another set of 20 schools in the program's second year, which will last until March 31, 2026. Schools interested in obtaining these grants can apply through the provided link.
