The city of Green Bay has announced that the Green Bay Conservation Corps will host an Earth Day Eco-Fair at McAuliffe Park on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This announcement was made in a press release on April 21, 2025.

According to the press release, the Eco-Fair will offer a variety of eco-friendly activities suitable for all ages. Attendees can participate in hands-on projects such as building bug hotels, creating party popper seed bombs, and making arts and crafts using materials from invasive species. The event will also feature nature-themed activities like a scavenger hunt and guided hikes. Participants have the opportunity to join a bioblitz led by the Baird Creek Foundation as part of the City Nature Challenge.

The Eco-Fair aims to highlight local environmental organizations and their efforts to protect the planet. Food from CC’s Steaks and Cakes food truck will be available for purchase, with cash, debit, and credit payments accepted. The press release states that media representatives can meet staff at the McAuliffe Park shelter at 10:00 a.m. for more information about the event.

Green Bay recently celebrated Earth Day 2025 with a volunteer event at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary on April 22, where over 300 volunteers participated in conservation efforts such as tree planting, trail system improvements, invasive species removal, and park clean-up.

The city established the Green Bay Conservation Corps (GBCC), an AmeriCorps program initiated by the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department to enhance conservation work across its 2,658 acres of green spaces. GBCC crews focus on trail maintenance, pollinator plantings, and native habitat restoration. In a city podcast, Mayor Genrich and staff discussed how the program was developed while members shared their experiences. Participants receive a living allowance, job training, and education awards. Volunteer and job opportunities are available through this initiative.
