The City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has announced an ongoing recruitment drive for lifeguards for the summer of 2025. The department is offering competitive wages and additional incentives to attract candidates.

According to a press release from the department, lifeguards are being hired for Colburn Pool, Joannes Aquatic Center, and Resch Aquatic Center. Candidates must be at least 15 years old and are required to pass a swim and object retrieval pre-test. They must also complete certification training with skill assessments and a written exam. No prior experience is necessary as training is provided at no cost to qualifying applicants. The starting pay is $16.32 per hour, with options for full-time and flexible part-time schedules. Additional benefits include a free uniform and work opportunities at three pool locations across the city.

"To work outside all summer with their peers, while earning great pay, is a fantastic opportunity for youth in the area," said Ann Moeller, Green Bay Recreation manager. "Lifeguarding allows these staff members to contribute to their community and builds a strong skillset to add to future career and college applications."

The City of Green Bay operates three outdoor aquatic facilities: Colburn Pool, Joannes Aquatic Center, and Resch Aquatic Center. These facilities also include splashpads and wading pools. Facility hours may vary based on weather conditions and attendance levels. Pools may close if the air temperature falls below 70 degrees or if fewer than 15 people are present. In cases of thunder or lightning, pools will close temporarily and reopen only after 20 minutes without further activity; refunds or rain checks are not provided due to weather-related closures.

The Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department aims to promote wellness and community engagement through various programs and public spaces. It offers recreational activities, park projects, and seasonal events such as Field Fest and the Draft City Music Fest throughout the year.
