Leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, the President of the Detroit Lions predicted that Green Bay would fall short compared to Detroit's 2024 Draft. However, data from Placer.ai, a location analytics firm, showed that Green Bay experienced a significant increase in unique visitors. The Green Bay Draft attracted 312,000 unique visitors compared to Detroit's 238,900, marking a 31% rise.
Mayor Eric Genrich commented on the results by quoting Coach Lombardi: “Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing.” He likened this achievement to the Packers' victory over the Lions in a memorable 1993 playoff game.
The NFL's attendance numbers reflect "turnstile passes" at events, but Placer.ai provides insights into unique visitor counts for better understanding of economic impact. The platform does not count repeat visits by the same person within the Draft footprint.
Genrich noted that while the Lions have yet to win a Super Bowl and seek victories where possible, they fell short again in this instance. He wished them better luck next time.
Placer.ai is utilized globally by various organizations for estimating event and location attendance. Mayor Genrich expressed pride in Green Bay's culture of winning and welcomed rivalry with Detroit while humorously noting mutual disdain for another team: “We’re proud to have bested them with visitor attendance at our Draft, but I think we can both agree that the Bears still suck.”
The NFL Draft will move to Pittsburgh in 2026, where new attendance records are anticipated.
