Representative Tony Wied has recently made several statements on social media addressing law enforcement, federal funding, and welfare policy. The posts, made on July 11, 2025, focus on his legislative initiatives and criticism of political opponents.
On July 11, 2025, Rep. Wied expressed support for the National Police Association's endorsement of his SAFE Cities Act. He stated: "Proud to have the National Police Association's endorsement of my SAFE Cities Act. This is a commonsense bill that backs law enforcement officers over violent extremists. If radical politicians refuse to enforce the rule of law, they can say goodbye to their federal funding."
Later that day, Wied commented on what he described as negative rhetoric from left-leaning politicians toward federal law enforcement officers. He wrote: "Once again, we are seeing the consequences of the left's dangerous rhetoric towards our federal law enforcement officers. These officers are simply doing their job and it's what the American people overwhelmingly want them to do. The Democrats own this."
In another post on July 11, 2025, Wied criticized Governor Evers' statements regarding recent policy changes affecting public assistance programs. He said: "As usual, Gov. Evers is lying. We simply instituted reasonable work requirements so able-bodied adults don't abuse the system. I also co-introduced the EBT Act to ban EBT processing fees and encourage broader participation in the program. But that doesn't fit his narrative."
The SAFE Cities Act mentioned by Rep. Wied proposes withholding federal funds from municipalities whose leaders do not enforce certain laws or policies related to public safety.
