The University of Wisconsin Green Bay received over $100 million from the new state budget and can go ahead with plans to replace their old library.
The newly signed state budget from Gov. Tony Evers on July 8 grants $102,270,000 to the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.
"Building toward the future with @uwgb," Rep. John Macco said in a July 7 post to his Twitter account. "Visited UWGB to see firsthand its impact on Northeast Wisconsin. My budget initiative funding the Cofrin Technology and Innovation Center will replace the unsafe Cofrin Library and allow UWGB to continue to grow and benefit our state."
The money from the state budget will allow the university to go forward with their new Education and Research Center, planned to cost over $96 million and will replace the old Cofrin Library. The rest of the money will go toward various renovation projects and funding for First Nations programming and summer camps. The new Cofrin center was proposed in March when Evers was still planning the budget.
The whole budget, including the overhaul UW-Green Bay will be receiving, are estimated to have an economic impact of $4.3 billion for the state of Wisconsin.
