Green Bay Schools have announced that over 30 students from the Green Bay Area Public Schools are advancing to the National History Day competition. This follows their successful performances at a regional event held at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on March 1, 2025. The announcement was made in a press release on March 5, 2025.

According to Green Bay Schools, students from John Dewey Academy of Learning, Green Bay Preble High School, and Green Bay Southwest High School participated in the regional competition. They presented projects in various formats, including documentaries, papers, exhibits, and performances, covering a wide range of topics.

Several students were recognized for their outstanding work. Brinley Bilke received the American Women's History Award for her project on Ella Baker. Caitlin Mellberg, Lucia Suarez, and Jessica Trevarthen earned the Brown County Historical Society & Hazelwood Historic House’s Special Prize for local history for their performance on Zona Gale. Additionally, Sophia Glime, Harper Kemper, and Nayeli Thomas received the Daughters of the American Revolution Special Prize for their performance on Women's Sports.

National History Day (NHD) is an academic enrichment program designed for students in grades six through twelve. It offers them the opportunity to create projects based on historical research across various fields such as sports, war, music, culture, and politics. Students can present their findings through exhibits, websites, documentaries, papers, or performances. While participation in competitions is optional, students can compete at multiple levels: school, regional, state, and national. According to the Wisconsin Historical Society, Wisconsin's state competition is held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with the national competition taking place at the University of Maryland.

The Green Bay Area Public School District is located in Northeast Wisconsin and is the fourth largest public school district in the state. It serves over 18,000 students across 39 schools and includes communities such as Allouez, Ledgeview, Bellevue, Green Bay, and Scott. Founded in 1856, it offers a variety of educational pathways to meet student needs.
