An increase in Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) employees’ pay by 4.7% for 2022-2023 is an investment into providing “quality teaching and learning” for students, the district superintendent said.
OASD Superintendent Bryan Davis praised the school board’s recent approval of the 4.7% raises. The raises are for Oshkosh Education Association, Non-Teaching Employees Association and All Non-Certified Work Groups, a board packet for the school board’s Jan. 26 meeting said. The increases are effective from Friday, July 1, 2022, through Friday, June 30, 2023.
The increases are base wage increases of the Consumer Price Index, related to the cost of living. The raises will be in line with inflation. Money for the raises will come partly from savings the district realized by moving to a partially self-funded health insurance plan, Fox 11 News said.
“Our teachers and staff members are truly difference makers,” Davis said, as reported by Fox 11 News. “We know that by investing in our staff, we are in turn investing in quality teaching and learning for our students. We are grateful for our school board’s forward-thinking and shared commitment supporting our staff so that we can continue to retain and attract the best employees.”
OASD is seeking applicants for job openings and will host the OASD 2022 Job Fair from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Oshkosh Convention Center, 2 N Main St. in Oshkosh, the OASD website said. The event is meant for mini interviews and immediate hiring for the present school year and next year. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged.
“Come see what Oshkosh has to offer – for teaching staff and many other areas including IT, clerical, custodial, food service and more with full and part-time options,” the website said. “Job seekers will meet with HR staff, principals, supervisors and educators to learn about open positions and 'Why Oshkosh?!’"
The district’s current openings include certified staff positions such as administrators, teachers, substitute teachers and pupil services as well as support staff positions such as assistant/aides, advisors, clerical, coaches, food service and custodial/maintenance.
