UW-Green Bay Marinette Campus to host ribbon-cutting for renovated theatre

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Marinette Campus is set to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 5, 2024, at the Herbert L. Williams Theatre, located at 750 W. Bay Shore Street, Marinette, WI. The event will celebrate the completion of renovations at the theatre and the Fine Arts Gallery. These refurbishments were made possible through $600,000 in support from Marinette County and donors for the “Take a Seat” campaign.

Attendees of the event will have their first opportunity to see engraved seat plaques recognizing their contributions. The ceremony will commence at 12:30 p.m., with alumni, special guests, and community leaders gathering for a reception. Guests are also invited to attend a performance of “Clue: On Stage” from 2 – 3:30 p.m., with tickets available on a "Buy One, Get One" basis for those attending the ribbon-cutting.

The event will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside the Fine Arts Building. Lauryn Albaugh, Director of the Herbert L. Williams Theatre, is scheduled to speak during this portion of the program. Attendees can look forward to live performances by local talent including UW-Green Bay alumnus Chase Grabowski and Lisa Atkinson-LeBouef, accompanied by Brittany Welch Pilz.

Dawn Crim, UW-Green Bay Vice Chancellor for Advancement, Community Engagement & Inclusivity, will publicly acknowledge and thank the 27 “Take a Seat” donors and community leaders for their generous contributions to the theatre.

This ribbon-cutting event underscores UW-Green Bay’s commitment to promoting arts and culture at its Marinette Campus. It provides an occasion to recognize and appreciate donor generosity's impact on our community's artistic landscape.

The Herbert L. Williams Theatre, located at the UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus, has been a key component of the arts in the Marinette community since its construction in 1968. The recent renovations completed in 2023 have modernized the theatre’s lights, sound, amenities, and seats.
