UW-Green Bay and Mental Health America Lakeshore are set to host the second annual Mind the Mind Symposium at Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan on June 19, 2024. The event, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., aims to promote mental wellness across communities and professions and may offer continuing education credits for health and human services professionals.

The keynote speaker, Sinclair Ceasar III, CEO of Sinclairity Consulting LLC, will discuss “Mental Health + Leadership: Embracing Imperfections Through Storytelling.” Ceasar is known for his advocacy for mental health in professional settings and incorporates improvisation into his presentations.

According to Mental Health America, nearly one in five American adults will have a diagnosable mental health condition each year. Furthermore, recent findings from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) highlight the need for a stronger mental health system that can provide necessary care and support.

The symposium will feature diverse breakout sessions addressing various topics:

- Prioritizing Mental Health as a Workplace Safety Issue

- Brainspotting: A Mind/Body Therapy Tool

- Forgiveness is the Future

- Balancing Act: Work-Life Integration for Health & Human Service Professionals

- It’s Not an Anger Problem

- Understanding the 5 Workplace Appreciation Languages

- Tapping into Your Health: Using Emotional Freedom Techniques for Self-Care and Empowerment

- The Mind-Body Connection: Exploring the Impact of Food Intolerance on Mental Health

- Grow Where You’re Planted: Holistic Leadership Development for Service-Based Leaders

An optional closing session led by Sarah Giencke will offer TRE® techniques aimed at providing relaxation and grounding.
