Enrollment at Howard-Suamico School District decreased by 2% compared to previous school year

There were 5,665 students enrolled in Howard-Suamico School District schools in the 2023-24 school year, 2% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 50.4% of them were boys, and 49.6% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 84.8% of the Howard-Suamico School District total enrollment.

Howard-Suamico School District covers nine schools within Brown County, with its main office in Green Bay.

Among the nine schools in the Howard-Suamico School District, Bay Port High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,951 students in the 2023-24 school year.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
