The Green Bay Public Works Department has announced a temporary adjustment to the drawbridge operating schedule of the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge, located at Dousman and Main Streets. This change is due to maintenance activities scheduled from January 27 through February 21, 2025. During this period, the bridge will be closed to masted navigation, although vessels that can pass underneath without assistance may continue to do so.
For motorists, the bridge will remain open; however, single-lane closures are expected in each direction along Main Street between North Broadway and North Washington Street. These closures could lead to traffic delays. No detour routes will be posted, but access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the maintenance period.
All operations related to lane closures and work are dependent on weather conditions and may change accordingly. Motorists are advised to anticipate potential back-ups and exercise caution when driving through the work zone. The department encourages drivers to consider alternative routes during this time.
"Vessels able to pass under the bridge may do so at any time," stated a representative from the Green Bay Public Works Department. They also noted that "motorists should anticipate back-ups" due to these changes.
