The Green Bay Area Public School (GBAPS) District announced that Dr. James Bailey donated materials and tools to support students in West High School’s Bridges Construction & Renovation program on April 11, 2025. The announcement was made in a press release on April 14, 2025.

According to the press release, Dr. James Bailey visited West High School’s Bridges Construction & Renovation program on April 11, 2025. During his visit, he provided lunch from Mission BBQ and donated Milwaukee Tool sets, including a Sawzall reciprocating saw, hammer drill, and impact driver combo to senior students, along with t-shirts for juniors. Earlier in the year, he also donated tool chests to East High School’s City Stadium Automotive program.

"I felt that doing something like this would be really helpful for them and help set them off on a good career path...this is something I knew that if I was in their position, I would be really excited to get and I wanted to do the same thing for them," said Bailey.

Bridges Construction & Renovation is a career pathway at GBAPS where students gain hands-on experience in construction through partnerships with industry professionals. The program covers areas such as structural design, safety, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and architectural planning. It prepares students for apprenticeships or further education at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC), or skilled trade careers. It also emphasizes community involvement by allowing students to contribute to local housing renovation and development projects.

The Green Bay Area Public School District is located in Northeast Wisconsin and is the fourth-largest public school district in the state. It serves over 18,000 students across 39 schools. Founded in 1856, the district includes the communities of Allouez, Ledgeview, Bellevue, Green Bay, and Scott. It offers various educational pathways to meet student needs. The district has a long history including the century-old football rivalry between East and West high schools and City Stadium's role as the original home field for the Green Bay Packers. The district's mission is to prepare students for success in college, careers, and their communities.
