The Green Bay Area Public School (GBAPS) District announced that twenty students in the Bridges Construction & Renovation program presented the home they built over several months at 929 N Broadway in Green Bay.

According to a press release by GBAPS, students from East, Preble, Southwest, and West High Schools gathered with their families and local leaders on May 14, 2025, to tour a newly constructed home they built through the Bridges Construction & Renovation program. The celebration recognized their efforts and future plans, with instructors and local leaders presenting students with tool belts and speaking at the event.

Bridges is a hands-on learning program supported by GBAPS in collaboration with local partners like NeighborWorks Green Bay, Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity, Brown County Home Builders Association, and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC). It provides students with practical skills in construction, renovation, and related trades by working alongside industry professionals.

The home at 929 N Broadway was made possible through community partnerships and funding, including the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation’s Impact Investment Program, which offered a low-interest loan. The program’s support reduced construction costs and allowed the house to be sold at a more affordable price. Future student projects will include a single-family home and a townhome on Green Bay’s west side.

The Green Bay Area Public School District is located in Northeast Wisconsin and is the fourth-largest public school district in the state. It serves over 18,000 students across 39 schools. Founded in 1856, the district includes the communities of Allouez, Ledgeview, Bellevue, Green Bay, and Scott. It offers various educational pathways to meet student needs. The district has a long history that includes the century-old football rivalry between East and West high schools and City Stadium's role as the original home field for the Green Bay Packers. The district's mission is to prepare students for success in college, careers, and their communities.
