The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Marinette Campus is set to host the Youth Theatre Workshop from Monday to Friday, June 17-21. The workshop invites children aged between 8 and 17 years old to participate in a week-long program aimed at developing creativity, social skills, empathy, and confidence through performing arts.

The workshop will be held at the Herbert L Williams Theatre from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Brittany Welch Pilz, Artistic Producing Director for the theatre, will instruct the participants who will rehearse the play “The Rainbow Fish” throughout the week. A public performance of the play is scheduled for Friday afternoon on June 21.

According to Welch Pilz, this will be her sixth time teaching the summer theatre workshop. She said, “What I love most about it is how it brings new young theatre lovers out of the woodwork. We often have participants who haven’t had any experience in the theatre world, and once they’ve completed the workshop, they end up a staple in our children’s productions."

"The Rainbow Fish", adapted from Marcus Pfister's book translated into English by J. Alison James with illustrations by Marcus Pfister himself, offers an engaging storyline with energetic dialogue and staging that encourages creativity and flexibility.

The Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Training sponsors Children’s Theatre as part of its commitment to offering adults and youth opportunities to participate in theatrical productions.

For more information or queries regarding registration for the workshop, interested parties can contact Community Theatre and Arts Program Specialist Lauryn Albaugh at albaughl@uwgb.edu.
