Mayor Eric Genrich, Council President Brian Johnson, and former mayors Jim Schmitt and Paul Jadin have released a joint statement concerning the ongoing efforts to relocate C. Reiss.

The statement emphasizes the long-standing goal of moving coal piles away from Green Bay's downtown waterfront. The leaders highlight the benefits such a move would bring to the community, port, and regional economy. They stress the urgency of taking advantage of the current opportunity, which they believe is closing quickly.

The group calls on Brown County leaders to collaborate with C. Reiss to reach an equitable agreement that utilizes allocated grant funds effectively. "For decades, under our respective tenures and beyond, the City of Green Bay has pursued the goal of relocating the coal piles away from our downtown waterfront to benefit our community, our port, and our regional economy," reads part of their statement.

They describe this decision as a "legacy-making opportunity" that could transform Green Bay's riverfront for future generations. The statement concludes with an appeal for a solution that will make both officials and the community proud.
